Viktoria Shushan (200 Hrs E-RYT, BA Hons Architecture) is an international yoga teacher with 10 years of teaching experience (+5000 hours). She is also a professional artist who has painted indoor and outdoor murals at Santa Fe Community Yoga Center and the Menla Center.
At Santa Fe Community Yoga Center she teaches Mixed Level & Level 3 Vinyasa Yoga as well as an Inversions and Arm Balances class. Her style is fun, creative and challenging, incorporating unusual asanas, mudras, sacred geometry meditations, singing bowl baths and Infinity Aum chanting.
At Eldorado GYM Viktoria Teaches Yoga for Strength & Flexibility and Meditation/ Yoga Nidra Classes. These classes are directed towards seniors with strength and flexibility sequences as well as meditation and yoga nidra exercises.
Viktoria has taught in the UK, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, bringing yoga and better life quality to people in different parts of the world. She integrates her formal yoga training with her own innovations and discoveries into an original teaching style, drawing upon her architectural and fine arts background.
Her formal Vinyasa teacher training was done with Shiva Rea, Dr. Elena Voyce, Mark Freeth, Kathryn Ellis, Swami Saradananda, Jesse Saunders, Camille Litalien, Nita Shah, Tina Hardy and Barbara Helisova. Other teachers who have inspired her and influenced her style are Jeff Phenix, Ana Forrest, Deepa Moodgal, Olof Kujit and Edgars Tarkanijs. She has also studied some of the world’s spiritual, mystical texts ranging from Krishnamacharya, B.K.S. Iyengar and Desikachar, to Rumi and Hafiz, to Louise Hay, Eckhart Tolle, and Thich Nhat Hanh.
Currently Viktoria lives in Santa Fe with her husband, comparative religions scholar and author Dr. Gregory Shushan. She is working on painting and mural commissions as well as her graphic novel about growing up in Russia during the fall of the Soviet Union.
